In the sector of gearbox, a planetary gears installed in the gearbox is a power gearbox designed with the input shaft and the output shaft aligned, and which is utilized to transfer the largest spur torque of planetary gears in the most compact form, which is torque density. For a torque to be increased, the planetary gears are mounted on an unit called joint carrier that is connected to the output shaft, and the rotational speed of the output is lower than that of the drive, so the torque of the output is higher in reverse proportion of the planetary gears as designed. What is a Gearbox?

Since a gearbox is a mechanical device that is utilized for torque increase or decrease through the speed reduction or increase mechanism, this device consists of two or more planetary gears with one of the gears driven by the motor unit. The output speed of the gearbox will be inversely proportional to the gear ratio. Regarding its most commonly known usages that people all know in the automotive industry, a gearbox is a transmission device which is used between engine’s output shaft and the final drive so as to transfer the intended or say, required torque and power of gears to the wheels of the vehicle. 

Planetary Gearbox

A gearbox containing planetary gears consists of the set of gears, such as spur, helical, bevel, worm and epicycle, which is based on the types of specific gearboxes that contains planetary gears gearbox. They may be spurred by electric power and are used in the field works, which are arranged in a special manner in order to provide required spurred gear force or speed ratios to the eventual drive of the vehicle, and a gearbox usually comes with the speed specification such as five speed transmission with a reverse, and an automatic transmission movement.

Inside the gearbox, the gear power transmission mechanism is a physical process in a machine facility in which a power transmission system provides controlled application of the appropriate gear power. In the common circumstances, the term five speed transmission refers simply to the gearbox that adopts driven gears and gear trains to offer speed and torque conversions from a rotating electric power source of gears to the other electric or other device or several devices, depending on the situation of the components such as shafts and others. 

Applications of Gearbox

In the industry, the most common use of gearboxes is in the automotive industry for motor vehicles, in which the transmission adapts the output of the internal combustion engine and then to the drive wheels. The engines need to operate at a relatively high rotational speed as it is the designed pace, which is inappropriate for starting, stopping, and slower travel. Meanwhile, the gear transmission through shafts reduces the higher engine speed to the slower wheel speed, which increases the torque in the whole process during the operation.

Therefore, as this system is widely used due to its great applicability, spurred transmissions are also utilized on other machineries such as pedal bicycles, fixed machines, and where different rotational speeds and torques are adapted for the operation dealing with the motor forces and strengths. Besides these usages, machine tools and plastics and rubber industries also demand for the usages of the gearboxes in order to have an overall control of the output motor strength. In the case of plastics injection machines, gearboxes are used to help the mixture of resins as well as masterbatches that are loaded into the hopper, making them well integrated in the form of fluid for the further injection process into the molds. Beside the usage, there are other cases of this specific industrial unit in the electric sector.
