Stainless Steel Flat Bars

Stainless steel flat bars are essentially the flat bars made from stainless steel. The flat bars are also known as rectangular bars; they are long and rectangular-shaped bars. Besides stainless steel, flat bars can be made from other materials, usually metals. These materials are used primarily in a wide range of structural and architectural applications. Stainless steel is considered one of the core elements of the general manufacturing industry. Other materials that are commonly used to make flat bars include aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, etc.

Stainless steel has a high tensile strength, formability and durability. As a result, it is ideal for cold fabrication operations such as roll forming, bending, or stamping. In addition, it is corrosion resistant, low temperature resistant and requires low maintenance. Therefore, stainless steel is suitable for structural applications.
 

Corrosion Resistance

The corrosion resistance that stainless steel has is said to be one of the most important traits because it is primarily used in frame construction and building support applications. The corrosion resistance comes from the chromium stainless steel contained. Chromium forms a self-healing protective clear oxide layer in the material and this feature remains even after a certain level of forging and machining. It adds on the practicality as well since stainless steel does not require coatings or paintings on the surface to obtain the corrosion resistance capability.
 

Frame Construction

Frame construction is one of the primary applications of stainless steel flat bars. These flat bars can be cut into length easily for drilling, welding, or other types of metal processing operations for framework. Because stainless steel has excellent durability and it has enough strength to withstand construction weight, the stainless steel bars are best applicable in frame construction.
 

Building Support

Coming with outstanding physical strength and durability, stainless steel flat bars are also ideal and in fact fundamental for building support materials. A building support material needs to be firm and strong enough to deal with weights and loads without losing the strength and stainless steel just has these characteristics to handle this job. They are used for support braces, ladder hangers, gate latches, duct work, overhead doors and more.
 

Improvements & Additions

Though used mostly as construction materials, stainless steel flat bars can actually be used in the post-construction stage to serve as the reinforcement or supplement for the already existing building structures to add on extra support and improvement. In this case, the flat bars may be further cut or formed in order to fit into the already in place materials or sometimes to replace them.

As aforementioned, stainless steel flat bars can not only be used as building or structural materials but also as an ingredient for artworks and crafts. For artists and craftsmen, the flat bars are ideal for large scale industrial pieces such as statues. The ease of formability and malleability of stainless steel make it a perfect material to shape and to last. Once they are formed, they are not going to fall.
