Oil Coolers

In the machine tool industry, oil coolers and water coolers are the mainstream cooling methods used in working conditions. It helps to maintain the entire production process at a certain specification level, ensure that machining is performed under ideal conditions, minimize the tolerance, and enhance the working performance.
In fact, there are three main cooling methods. In addition to oil and water media, air is another. Generally speaking, the design of the air-cooled conditioning makes the compartment and composition easier, such as the electrical control panel used in the base station, and can be applied to a narrower variety of CNC vertical and horizontal machine centers, CNC lathes, CNC double column grinding and milling machines, CNC EDM machines, and other electrical control panel industries. These industries can usually use oil coolers and water coolers. However, these three temperature control methods still hold the market due to their different advantages.

Oil Cooling and Advantages

During the working process of machine tools, most oil coolers are designed with inverter mechanism. Compared with air cooling methods, most oil coolers can be applied to a wider range of machine tool categories. For example, CNC vertical and horizontal machine center, CNC grinding machine, CNC high-speed lathe, CNC 5 face machining center, CNC double column grinding and milling machine, CNC high-speed press, etc.
Inverter technology is the key to the cooling process. Even in domestic usages, we can see that most advanced air conditioners are equipped with inverter motors. Therefore, with inverter compressors, many advanced oil coolers for industrial usages can keep the current smoothly and save up to 33% or less in energy consumption. This can save a lot of utility costs and power consumption for industrial users and business owners. In addition to the oil cooling method, the water cooling method is also a good choice for machine tools. Water coolers are usually designed to be highly advanced, and can be used in more industrial fields. For example, UV printing machine and the cooling for ink roller, high cycle machines, PU foam machines, injection molding machines, blow molding machines, ultrasonic cleaning equipment, and other industrial facilities.
If an oil cooler is compared with a water cooler, the cooling effect of the two is usually distinguished. Water coolers are not as effective and stable as oil cooling because the latter can usually be controlled within one degree Celsius, and the water cooling mechanism is less reliable. Some good water coolers may control the temperature to 1.5 degrees Celsius. These characteristics are the basic essence of the water and oil cooling mechanism, which makes it less popular than oil cooling in the field of high precision machining. However, if they are compared with the air cooling mechanism, the water cooling method and use are actually very stable.


Cooling for Machine Tools

During the operation of the machine tool, especially in the actual cutting process, the work spindle is operated under very high speed rotation. At present, higher machining accuracy is required, so it is necessary to improve the machining conditions to better manage the workpiece. Because the oil cooling mechanism can reduce the working temperature and control the workpiece, tool unit and other objects under a controlled phase. Therefore, the CNC system can well organize the temperature changes and other corresponding parameters to improve the processing accuracy.
In addition, other cooling methods have been introduced. Oil cooling is the most reliable method, and it is the most commonly used method for advanced machine tool models. Therefore, the methods of water cooling and air conditioning are not as widely used for high-precision processing as oil coolers. For this phenomenon, one thing is that if considering the working conditions of many machine tools, the efficiency of air cooling technology is not as good as water cooling and oil cooling. Although it is still one of the cooling options selected by machine tool suppliers, it is an option for them to develop machine tool equipment.



This article discusses the oil cooler and compares other cooling methods. Since the operation of all working machine tools requires temperature, some systems may use two systems at a time, such as oil coolers for machine tools and air conditioners for the whole plant. Based on the CNC programming control system, all of these are possible, and the manual model is not convenient for the integrity of the overall temperature management.
