When the raw materials are about to be transferred to the cutting processing, the de-coilers have to uncoil the larger material or master coils, and make them straighten or flatten as the preparation state. After this step is finished, then the cutting mechanism will cut the flatten materials to the required length as it moves through the line. And most of all, the cut to length lines will ultimately stack those cut sheets into a bundle for convenient purposes.

There are often some sturdy metal bars that travel through the center of the roll, and those bars are shaped according to their targeted purpose. A circular bar facilitates greater speed, while a square bar provides a greater potential for torque forces. Users need to figure which shape best matches to their cut to length lines so the balance between processing speed and torque force can be leveled. Edge sensors are used to sense how full the center roll is. They are mounted on adjustable slides to accommodate many different widths, as the width increases when the center roll is filled. The sensitivity of the sensors is determined by the required speed of operation. The same requirements are applied to the coiling machine in which metal sheets are coiled into a roll, while it is under preparation stuff by workers.
With the help of the de-coil process and the further cut to length procedure, there is another famous process which can grant the de-coiled sheet an appropriate length or width, which is called the steel coil slitting line. In the metal forming industry, automatic steel coil slitting lines are widely applied in all kinds of industries for the most suitable applications. Coil slitting is much like roll slitting, which is a shearing operation that cuts a large roll of metal materials into narrower rolls for industrial consumers. Among the inventory, there are two types of slitting, first is log slitting and the other is the rewind slitting. Regarding the log slitting case, the roll of material is treated as a whole part, and one or more slices are taken from it without an unrolling procedure.
