Hydraulic ironworkers are a series of hydraulic ironworker machines that are driven by hydraulic force to shear, punch, and notch in the steel plates. The term ironworkers machines are now used to indicate to the whole set of related machineries and are widely used in the metal working industry. The term shearing indicates the shearing off of a certain piece. An alligator shear is best known by people as a lever shear. Sometimes a crocodile shear is a metal machining shear with a hinged jaw tool. This is powered by a hydraulic cylinder. Besides the alligator shear, there is also rotary shearing, which works in the metal working process. Rotary shearing means to shear metal sheets by the means of a rotary device that can be rotated either manually or automatically. It is important to use the shearing mechanism under certain circumstances, because the sheet metals may be of some specific ingredients or rolling conditions that does not allow them to be cut by other measures. The rotary shearing method provides another alternative measures for onsite operators of metal sheets to deal with those thin material work pieces with the rotary shear treatment method.
Rotary shearing is coupled with the metal rolls as supportive equipment. Rolls of sheet metals are commonly used in many industrial sectors for processing products, for paper, paint, steel, textiles, and rubber material processing. The length of the metal rolls varies from a few centimeters up to six meters or more, and throughout the length, a highly finished surface is required. In practical usages, these rolls give sheet metal work pieces the high finish, which is required without polishing or further buffing processes. If the metal rolls are designed to be used for cold forming metal materials, then the great pressure between the work and the rolls would cause the rolls to spring apart at the center. Once if the situation occurred, the rolled metal would be thicker at the center while thinner at the edges if the perfectly uniform diameter rolls were used for this purpose. Therefore, the desirable correct curve of the face of the roll needs to be carefully evaluated.
The forces that are emitted by hydraulic ironworkers are rather huge compared to other types of forming machines. Besides hydraulic ironworkers, there are mechanical ironworkers that can be controlled in a rather precision manner and pace. Even though mechanical machines cannot compete with hydraulic machines in the torque forces regarding the exerting operations, there are many users who favor mechanical ironworkers due to the many precision advantages. Now some hydraulic ironworkers achieve precision forming process by the use of advanced control system and the results are good and favored by many industrial users. As for the multi tasking flexibility, now the differentiation between mechanical ironworkers and hydraulic ironworkers is not as obvious as it was before, and it is anticipated that with the compensation from the controlling system, hydraulic ironworkers could be even further smooth during the operation in the future.
