Stud and Track Roll Forming Machine Guide

What is a stud and track roll forming machine?

A stud and track roll forming machine is one type of roll forming machine, which is used to produce studs and tracks that allow them for being applied for the materials or the components of constructions, such as the framing of buildings, drywall materials, or ceilings in the indoor environments, etc.

The stud and track roll forming machine is dedicated to making metal products, such as steel studs and tracks, which own the characteristics of the ease of installation, stability, and durability, to name a few. With the stud and track roll forming machine, not only does it strengthen the constructions, but it also benefits the people under those constructions, because they ensure the safety of the constructions and the residents as well.

A forming machine is operated by the forming processes. Forming is to shape the required geometries of the final products with the compressive force directly on the entire workpieces. During these processes, there are no chips that would be produced during milling or drilling, for example. In other words, there is no removal of any material after the forming processes, which helps increase the rigidity and durability of the products accordingly.

The roll forming machine is a device that utilizes series of rollers to form the materials that are linear and long in length, such as sheet metals, and cuts off the final products in combination with the automatic cutter, in order to achieve the accuracy and precision of the cuts even if with the long workpieces.

The roll forming machines come in different sizes and forms, which are specialized in the manufacturing of a variety of products. The stud and track roll forming machine helps produce the studs and tracks by adopting the similar principles as other roll forming machines, but slightly differs with others in the machine structures.

Why use a stud and track roll forming machine?

As far as we know, the studs and tracks are used for being parts of the constructions. However, these studs and tracks are not one-size-fits-all, which means there are different forms of studs and tracks depending on the materials and the machines that are applied to manufacture.

When it comes to the materials, which make up the studs and tracks, the usage matters. Sometimes we can see the studs and tracks that are made of wood, which is, compared to the metal studs and tracks that we discuss here, less rigid and durable when being used for a long time.

As for the machines that are applied to produce these products, using the roll forming machine is the better choice, since the rollers on the machine can assist for the alignment and forming of the basic appearance of the products with accuracy and precision, which makes the consistency of the products that meet the requirements of the customers.

What comprises a stud and track forming machine and how does it work?

Like other roll forming machines, this type consists of an uncoiler, a roller former, the die tooling and punch, a flying cutter, and a table. These components are arranged in a raw and connected to the transmission systems, which allow for the transmission of the workpieces. In addition, the orders of the manufacturing processes follow that of the component arrangement, which starts from the uncoiler and ends up with the table.

● Uncoiler
The uncoiler is the first station where the material is placed and fed into the machine. Before being formed, the materials, which are the sheet metals, are coiled. When the operation is ready, the uncoiler is required to uncoil and flatten the sheet metals and allows them to be fed into the machine.

● Roller former
Through the transmission system, the sheet metals would be conveyed on the series of roller formers, and allows them to align and form the shape of what the final products should look like.

● Die tooling and punch
As there would be some folded parts as well as slots on the studs and tracks, which are designed for the ease of installation, this design is achieved by the die tooling that offers the cavity and the punch that compresses the workpieces, in order to form the desired shapes of the products.

● Flying cutter
After the shape of the studs or tracks are formed, they would be sent to the station where the flying cutter is on, and the cutter cuts off the workpieces in certain length as is required and preset, which completes the production of the studs and tracks.

● Table
Once the workpieces are formed and cut off as the desired shapes and lengths, the final products would be transmitted to and stacked on the table, where is placed on the opposite end of the uncoiler.
