CNC Surface Grinder Guide
The most common surface grinder has a grinding wheel that moves along a horizontal axis and rotates, using the outer periphery of the grinding wheel for grinding. Rotating surface grinders commonly referred to as "Blanchard" type grinders move and rotate the grinding wheel along the vertical axis, using the end face of the grinding wheel for grinding.
The grinder can be used to remove large amounts of material and grind on flat surfaces with obvious spiral grinding marks. Some of these materials are relatively stable and will not adhere to the grinding wheel during processing, while some may corrode during the processing and then adhere to the grinding wheel, making them less suitable for complex machining.
