High Speed Vertical Machining Centers Guide

In the machining center area, "high speed" means that the spindle speed (rpm) is higher than a certain standard. The standard is not specific since in different countries the standard may be different, and industries may also have distinguished requirements. However, for most Asian machining center models, high speed means at least rpm above 12,000, while in Western Europe, high speed is often referred to as above 30,000 rpm.

The high speed vertical machining center is a highly developed machine tool that can handle many types of milling tasks, which is developed from a milling machine. Since its practical features, the development of this particular type of vertical machining center has progressed well in the industry. The vertical milling machine and vertical machining center is widely used in various industries and has made extensive contributions to industrial activities and commercial value.

Regarding vertical milling, this is the process of vertical machining center, which uses a spinning tool to remove material by advancing the tool into one or more workpieces. This processing method can be done in different directions. The term "machining center" can be used to describe various cnc (computer numerical control) drilling and milling machines. These high speed vertical machining centers are equipped with some key and sometimes optional accessories, which are equipped with the body, such as tool magazine, ATC (Automatic tool changer), power tool turret, CMM (coordinate measuring machine), and multi-axis working table.

With the development trend of the smart industry, industry insiders are now seeking to shorten the cycle time. When it comes to the inventory of machining centers, the vertical machining center is one of all other models because it is a highly developed machine tool that can handle multiple milling tasks at once in a relatively short time. High speed vertical or horizontal machining centers are all developed from milling machines. Since its birth in the metal processing industry, the development of this particular type of machine tool has made great progress in the entire industrial field and widely applied in all kinds of industries.

High Speed Procedure

The milling ability of high speed vertical machining centers is obvious. Milling is a machining process that uses a spinning tool to remove material by advancing the tool into one or more workpieces. This processing method can be done in different directions. In addition to turning, milling also covers a variety of operations, ranging
from a single tiny part to heavy and large gang milling operation tasks. Similar to turning, milling is one of the most commonly used machining methods to provide precise tolerances. Therefore, the research and development of milling methods are widely popular in the industry due to the productivity and effective characteristics of the production and processing of workpieces with complex profiles, while traditional lathes are relatively difficult to achieve.

Therefore, based on this expectation, the following development and the concepts of machine center were gradually formed. The term "machining center" can be used to describe various CNC (computer numerical control) drilling and milling machines. These machine tools are equipped with some key and sometimes optional accessories, which are equipped with the body, such as tool magazine, ATC (Automatic tool changer), power tool turret, CMM (coordinate measuring machine), multi-axis working table, etc. In addition to vertical and horizontal models, there are other categories in the machining center inventory. The vertical machining center is a vertical arrangement of its structure, and the workpiece is processed by a cutting tool that moves vertically. This design of the machining direction has many advantages and can provide operators with more than conventional machining methods.

Horizontal Machining

In addition to vertical, there is another processing method. The spindle of the horizontal machining center is placed horizontally, and the machining is proceeding lying down. When using a vertical design, the weight of the workpiece will help it be firmly positioned on the fixture to make a heavier vertical cutting route without worrying about route deviation. With the help of the power turret, the cycle time is greatly reduced. The work piece machining of machine centers are normally not of round shape but other complicated profiles since the former one can be dealt with by turning machine with power turret in a much more productive way of manufacturing.

Therefore, in essence, the traditional machining center is designed with at least three axes, namely x, y and z axes. Today, industrial processes are complicated due to the need for fewer processes. Therefore, there are machining centers designed on the 4th and 5th axis that can complete all cutting tasks at on stop. Regarding the five axis machining center, there are three main methods of constructing a five-axis machine tool. Most of the machining angles can be achieved by swing head. This machine and other 4 + 1 and 3 + 2 machining centers are considered very convenient, and the latter has more practical advantages. There are many machine center manufacturers in Taiwan who are committed to industrial research and development, and provide the best solutions for users in the global market. Machine tools are the most basic capital goods for manufacturers, and they play a vital role in determining the final output of the final product. Therefore, the quality of the machine tool is the key to the quality of the manufacturer's final product in the market.

Different Kind of Machining Center Classifications

Today, machine tool inventory changes from time to time. Now, after inventing the machining center and program control system (CNC, computer numerical control), compared with the previous standard, the processing standard has become more and more strict. In addition to CNC machining centers, there are CNC turning centers, CNC milling machines, CNC tapping and milling centers, CNC drilling and milling centers, etc. Although these machines are not as versatile as machining centers, they are also very powerful for complex workpieces in various machining aspects. At present, many machine tool manufacturers even integrate CMM equipment into their machines, and apply a wider range of precision standards to the machine tool field.

Meanwhile, both vertical and horizontal machining centers have powerful functions in all kinds of heavy cutting, especially if the machining center is designed as a double-column structure, or a gantry type structure. Therefore, with the arrival of the Industry 4.0 era in the 2010s, various machine tools are developing towards multifunctional and machining centers in the market to respond to modern order requirements.
