Image dimension measurement system is a measurement system containing the equipment which is responsible for capturing pictures of the object, and the computer programs for controlling the whole system.
The system which deducts the measurement duration from few minutes to less than five seconds can help operators do the quick measurement with the specific computer program by the images this measurement system captured.
In other words, it is a non-touched measuring equipment, just like the overhead projector and the microscope.
The image dimension measurement system works based on the CCD (Charged Coupled Device). With the technique of image inspecting and geometric space calculation, the measurement would be done by a dedicated computer program which is the most important part of the image dimension measurement system.
While doing the measuring work, the image dimension measurement equipment would capture the picture of the object which is ready to be inspected, then, the images would be sent into the database. Finally, the dedicated computer program would make the images into the complete picture of the object for operators to do the quick measurement.
The purpose of introducing an image dimension measurement system is to improve the quality of workpieces and the inspection progress. Therefore, there are some important features that the qualified image dimension measurement system would have:
● Reduce the Measuring Duration
The image dimension measurement system can inspect 99 dimensions of an object in one time. Besides, the operators can even measure more than one object in one time.
Compared with other methods which might use several equipment or times to inspect the same object, the image dimension measurement system can highly reduce the measuring duration.
● Detect Problems During the Measuring Progress
The image dimension measurement system works by collecting and combining images it captured together. Therefore, if there are any problems, the system would detect the error and announce the operators to adjust in anytime.
● Automatically Records
The image dimension measurement system has the ability to record the measuring results in the computer program for further usage.
● Risk Prevention
In the previous description of the features above, we can know that the image dimension measurement system is capable of reducing measuring time without making the quality lower by its function of automatically recording and adjustment announcements.
Moreover, the image dimension measurement system provides up to 99-dimensional measurements which could be recognized with very precision.
Through these three functions, the risk of making mistakes during inspection would highly be deducted.
The image dimension measurement system is consisted by the measuring equipment and computer programs. Being more detaily, in this section, the basic structure of the measure equipment itself would be introduced.
In general, the image dimension measurement equipment would contain the parts listed below:
● CCD Camera
This is the part which is responsible for capturing images of the object ready to be measured. Images taken by the camera would be sent into the computer program for next steps.
● Platform for Placing Objects
The object which is ready to be measured would be put on the platform under the CCD camera for picture taking.
● Control Panel
In general, the image dimension measurement system does not need to be paid too much attention about. The most important thing that must be done for maintenance purposes is adjusting the device regularly. Thus, it would ensure that the measurement system keeps its precision of automatically focusing.
The steps of using the image dimension measurement system are not considered complex.
First, before using, the object which is going to be measured is required to be put under the room temperature at least for five hours. The purpose of this step is to prevent the object from deforming because of the thermal expansion.
The next step is right, the last step, which is putting the object on the platform and starting the whole system to complete the measurement. The result from the completed measurement would be the further reference for the CAD.
First, the CCD camera of the image dimension measurement system would take pictures of the objects by different sides one by one and the capability can be up to 99 dimensions.
Then, the captured image would be sent into the computer program which is called CAD for imaging. During this progress, the separated images would be put together and show the operators the complete 3D image of the object.
After the imaging progress is done, the data of the object would be saved into the image dimension measurement system for further references.
