Gantry mill is the heavy duty milling machines that can deal with tasks such as milling, boring, turning, grinding, and other machining tasks with multiple tools. The spindles of gantry milling machines are often specific types of models that can be driven for multiple ways.

Machining large pieces by normal size column milling machines would cause strong and intolerant vibration to the machine frame especially during boring and turning, causing uncontrollable deviation from the targeted accuracy. Therefore, with the two columns, both horizontal and vertical cutting vibrations of the gantry milling machines are thus reduced and the rigidity of tools is enhanced.
For the enhanced gantry milling machines, it can even do some of the lathes’ duties such as heavy vertical and horizontal turning as well as boring, drilling, grinding, and turning. With the gantry firmly rooted on the ground of the plant floor, spindle rotations and machine operations are highly reinforced in all kinds of machining tasks. For these efforts to be done, rotary tables are helpful roles to this thing. Rotary tables are essential components to most gantry milling machine tools and high end processing centers.
They are the most critical components for especially automatic processing in the machine tool industry, because the tilting capabilities they provide offers the possibility for further machining process. Vertical milling and drilling machining process are nearly the most commonly adopted methods in the sector of machine tools. Not only milling mills, but also turning lathes designers adopt this type of direction when they are doing the turning process. For the vertical machining of milling, boring, drilling, grinding, and turning to be done, the rotary table shall act more rather than just be a fixed working table like traditional lathes and gantry milling machines.

For working tables to be applied on the milling based machine tools, they are mostly used as the fourth or even the fifth axis of the milling gantry machine. They are mounted on the base, and act as the additional A axis or A and B axes for the milling machines. In sum, both gantry milling machines and CNC gantry milling are machineries that work with the rotary table design so that the overall processing capability can be enhanced to a powerful extent.
